STOP THIEF! - Protect Your Wireless Network From Cyber Theft!

"Entrepreneurs are legally liable to their employees and clients and could face both financial and criminal retribution".

The Problem
"Failing to secure your wireless network is the same as leaving your car door unlocked with the keys in the ignition" says René Sloos, Owner and President of CompuConsult Inc. By neglecting to secure your wireless network, cyber thieves can enter your central processing system and access confidential information, your client’s personal data and, without your knowledge, literally drive your business.

Gone are the days when electronic information was exclusively conveyed and transferred through a cable. These days, we demand convenience and mobility from technology and through wireless networks; technology has evolved to deliver just that. However, as liberating and as useful as wireless technology can be, there are also risks and cyber theft is a big one.

According to CompuConsult: The act of cyber theft involves breaking into a wireless network and stealing or manipulating information that belongs to someone else. If your company uses wireless communication, your business may be at risk from a wireless security breach.

Without proper wireless security, your corporate, sales and client’s personal data may be at risk of being modified, removed, and shared. If this breach of privacy occurs, you are legally liable to your employees and clients and could face both financial and criminal retribution.

The Solution
"The only real way to eliminate wireless crime is to stop using wireless communication" says René Sloos.

The most effective way to stop unwanted guests from accessing your information is to hire an IT professional to install sophisticated, security devices and to set up your network so that only authorized users can access wireless technology. Lower quality firewalls and routers may deflect inexperienced hackers, but certainly won’t combat serious cyber thieves.

"If a thief wants your information badly enough, they’ll undoubtedly and eventually find a way to steal it."

However, we certainly don’t need to leave our networks vulnerable and make stealing easy. In the same way that we protect our cars by locking the doors and keeping the keys in a safe place, we owe it to our employees and our clients to keep our networks secure and cyber thieves out.

“Saying what you do - Doing what you say”

With an estimated 2.5 trillion barrels of bitumen in place, Canada’s oil sands are one of the world’s largest crude oil resources. Oil sands represent the future of oil production in the western Canadian sedimentary basin. According to Alberta Energy, oil sands production, including marketable bitumen and upgraded synthetic crude oil, will account for nearly half of Canada’s crude output, and 10% of North America’s output in 2005.

UTS Energy Corporation with an excess of 20 UTS Energy staff, is focused on delivering shareholder value from the sustainable development of its existing oil sands assets, principally the Fort Hills Project and Lease 14.

The Fort Hills oil sands mining project is located in Alberta’s Athabasca oil sands area, approximately 90 kilometres north of Fort McMurray. Together with their partners Petro-Canada and Teck Cominco, they will mine, extract and upgrade an estimated 2.8 billion barrels of recoverable bitumen. Regulatory approval is in place for production levels up to 190,000 bbls/day.

Lease 14 is located on the western side of the Athabasca River opposite to the Fort Hills Project. A twenty-eight-well drilling program is being planned to define the oil sands resources and will be conducted during the winter of 2005/2006. UTS owns 100% of this asset.

In 2005, UTS’ market value exceeded $2 billion, their share price increased over 400% and they gained two significant partners that will provide downstream and mining expertise and cover most of the initial costs of the Fort Hills Project.

CompuConsult Inc. is extremely proud to work for a company that – delivers and exceeds on their corporate objectives, living up to their growing reputation of: “Saying what you do - Doing what you say”.

More Secure
When I got my computer it worked great, but now it's really slow”! We hear that a lot. One of the causes we encounter frequently is... somebody's watching you!

By now, everyone is aware that a virus can cause a lot of havoc. The media has done a good job in alerting us about virus outbreaks but failed to educate us about the effects of ... SPYWARE!

So what is spyware? Spyware is any software that covertly gathers information through the Internet, without your knowledge. Usually for advertising purposes, but also to steal your valuable information!

Invisible to the average computer-user , spyware can come along with any information that we download from the Internet.

Once installed, the spyware hides in places we don't know and monitors 'what we do on the Internet'. It will send all the information to the spyware owner. Scary huh?

Spyware can also gather information about your e-mail addresses and even passwords and credit card numbers.

Want to know if your computer contains spyware? Visit this web-site for a free on-line security scan: http://housecall.trendmicro.com

NOTE:
The trendmicro application does not replace the need for an anti-virus program on your computer.

Writing the same lines too many times?
A big part of your job is creating new business. And as you develop those important opportunities, you have to follow up with customers and prospects with letters, emails, quotes, etc.

Typically, you'll type or paste the same form letter into a lot of letters and e-mail messages to complete this task. And that can take a lot of time, no matter how fast you type.

Create and send letters with a few clicks of a button.

Microsoft Office Word & Outlook 2003 offer you an easy way to use AutoText to create and send your letters.

An AutoText entry is a stored text or graphic that you want to use over and over again. A custom toolbar can be created to store all the text you use on a regular basis.

Write once, send many
Use these AutoText entries to write:
- meeting letters
- follow up letters
- template emails
- quotes
- order confirmations

More Profitable
Psst... a "public secret" in our industry is that most IT providers push solutions on their customers because it's good for their own business - not for their customers.

Recently a customer asked us
“My Microsoft Office suite does
not contain the PowerPoint
program, can we purchase this
application as an add-on?”

Our answer: “Do you need
to create or modify your
presentations or do you just
want to be able to view
presentations that you receive?”

After we established that this
client only wanted to view the
presentations sent to her by
email, we provided a free downloadable PowerPoint
viewer.

She was pleasantly surprised to
learn that we did not try to sell her something that she didn’t really need!

So - why don't we?
It's obvious. If we did, you would find out sooner or later anyway. And if we would act that way with "just an application", would you trust us with your network? Probably not. And for a good reason...

CompuConsult will help you find the solution that's right for you and your business. Even when that solution is for free. We will never, ever compromise on this principle.
