"When voice and data travel over the same network, the need for a separate telephone network simply disappears. Easy access, productivity improvement, and the savings can be huge!"

by
René Sloos - CompuConsult
&

Jack Vanderlee - JawDrop Media

René Sloos - CompuConsult President: "Installation costs for new systems could drop 40% to 60% because a company only needs to purchase and install one infrastructure instead of two."

As more and more communication applications become prevalent in the workplace, organizations are also realizing the benefits of an 'All in One - communication solution.

Significant Cost Savings
Besides the obvious 'one is cheaper than two' benefit, a VoIP system (Voice Over Internet Protocol) is about 22% less expensive to operate than circuit-switched networks. Also, costs associated with employee moves, adds, and changes are virtually eliminated because the tasks can be handled in-house simply by moving a phone (connected to the network) into a different network jack.

Productivity Benefits...

Unified communications applications not only provide productivity improvements for mobile employees, they also enhance the way in which all employees communicate.

René Sloos: "An all-in-one voice and data solution effectively changes the way a company does business. It offers simplified management and administration, enabling IT personnel to easily administer phone and data.

Research documented by JawDrop Media plainly demonstrate that an integrated phone & computer network infrastructure delivers a multitude of benefits:

Organizations using an integrated phone & computer network saved an average of 32 minutes daily per employee because presence technology enabled staff to reach one another on the first try.

Use of soft phones resulted in an average savings of $1,727 per month in cell phone and long distance charges.

Mobile workers saved 40 minutes each day, enjoyed greater communications convenience, and generated annual productivity gains of 3.5 days per year through business continuity impact.

Organizations using unified messaging reported that employees saved 43 minutes per day from more efficient message management while mobile workers saved 55 minutes per day.

Companies using integrated Voice and Web conferencing reported a 30% reduction in conferencing expenses (by making integrated conferencing capabilities available in-house and on-network) and an average savings of $1,700 per month in travel costs.

René Sloos: "In today's dynamic business environment, perhaps the most important benefit comes from having a communication network that can change and grow at a moment's notice, enabling new capabilities for more effective communications, streamlining business processes, and improving profitability."

Saxon Energy Services Inc.
("Saxon")
is an international land-based drilling and well-servicing contractor headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

SES trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol SES. (Stock Quote)

Saxon Energy Services Inc. (“Saxon”) is an emerging international oilfield services company that operates an established oil and gas drilling and well servicing business focusing on providing services to major and intermediate oil and gas companies in North and South America.

Since going public in 2004, Saxon has expanded its operational fleet from nine rigs in Ecuador to 49 rigs operating in seven countries and two continents. In 2005, the company added 11 rigs in Venezuela, five operational rigs in Colombia and Peru and 14 rigs through the acquisition of another Canadian drilling company which operated in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. In addition, the Company commenced the construction of seven new rigs and commenced the refurbishment of three others.

In 2006, the Company has continued to expand its operations mainly in North America. At the end of June 2006, Saxon expects to have eight rigs operational in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas with one further rig working in Alaska.

In addition, on April 12, 2006, the Corporation announced that it had entered into contracts to construct and operate a further seven drilling rigs on a three year term for a major U.S. independent gas producer. The rigs will operate in Texas and provide a continuation of the Corporation’s focus on expanding its operating presence in North America. Five of the rigs are advanced technology singles which are scheduled to commence operating during the first quarter of 2007, while the other two rigs are fast-moving telescopic doubles projected to commence operations late in the fourth quarter of 2006. All rigs will be designed and constructed to efficiently drill and mobilize on a multi-well drilling program.

In an exciting development published as this e-Magazine was going to press, Saxon has announced the acquisition of a privately held Canadian drilling company which will add another seven rigs to this fleet, all of which operate in Canada.

Upon completion of this acquisition, Saxon will have a total operational rig fleet of 29 in North America and 27 in South America providing a balanced allocation between the two continents.

More Secure
Back Up Now or Be Sorry Later.

Funny how people never tell you about losing vital data. And there's a good reason for it: They don't want to hear - 'Hey, I've told you so!'

René Sloos: "Maintaining an up-to-date backup file can save your business. Data is a vital asset, but also a fragile one. For instance, a hard drive crash, a virus or a natural disaster could instantly result in the loss of all your customer lists, product information and financial records. Unfortunately, most businesses don’t think about making a backup copy of their business data until after such a disaster strikes. By then, it’s too late."

What you should backup
You need to be concerned with anything your business creates. This would include:

•Databases, including customer contact data and ordering records, as well as inventory information

•Financial software, data files, including spreadsheets

•Documents, including important correspondence, memos, work products and anything related to your business plan

•E-mail, especially messages that contain critical data like customer queries and contact information

•Web site files, unless your site is hosted by a third party elsewhere

BIG TIP
Test your data restore on a monthly basis to avoid disasters. The wrong time to find out that your backup has not been working properly is when you need to restore your data!

Send me information about professional backup.

More Efficient
Want to Grow? Maintain Good Customer Records.

No one has to tell a business owner about the value of keeping good customer records. They're essential for so many tasks — from sales and marketing and customer service to accounting and financial forecasting.

René Sloos: "There are many ways to manage customer information — but what works for one business may not be right for the business next door. Start by considering features and benefits of three popular systems for collecting and tracking customer data: a Contact Manager, a Database System and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software."

What may not be obvious is which customer-tracking system makes most sense for a growing business. A simple Excel spreadsheet may have been fine when you first started up. But as a business grows and its customer base expands, a more sophisticated way of tracking and analysing customer data may be necessary.

Maintaining good customer relationships isn't typically the responsibility of any one person or department — everyone who comes in contact with a customer has a role. That may be the receptionist, the sales team, your customer service reps and the people in your business office.

With CRM software, all of those people can quickly access and share information, ensuring customers get the same dependable service every time they contact your business.

More Profitable
Enable Your Employees to Work Anywhere.

New advances in technology are changing the way everyone works. Not only at the desk, where more can be done in a day, in less time than ever before, but also on the road and away from the office.

René Sloos: "An increasing number of businesses are recognizing the need for mobile data solutions. Typically, there are two solutions:

1. Everything is managed for you and your people. All you see are the messages, e-mail messages, data, reports, and content that are delivered to your PC or mobile device.

2. A mobile information server, managed inside your business or by a supplier. For a simple monthly fee plus airtime costs, you get all the hardware, software, configuration, installation, training, and support.
"

What Does It Mean For You?
Mobile options give you and your people speed, freedom, flexibility, and the resources to work anywhere, at any time and in any way.

Mobile technology can
increase:
• Productivity
• Employee motivation
• Operation Flexibility

reduce:
• Employee stress levels
• Business traveling costs
• Employee commuting time

save:
• Cost of renting office space

help:
• Attract new recruits

provide:
• The highest levels of customer satisfaction – and that’s exactly what your business is really all about!
